Restoration of St Guthlac's Church
St Guthlac’s Church lies right at the heart of the picturesque village of Stathern. Nestled amidst whispering trees and quaint cottages its tower is a beacon of faith and tradition, but time has not been kind to this sacred edifice; weathered stones have crumbled and the once-resplendent building needs significant work.
Stathern Heritage volunteers are determined to preserve this cherished landmark and have united in a fervent effort to raise funds for its repair and restoration. We have pooled resources and rallied support from neighbours and we are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing a generous grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Our collective resolve in restoring St. Guthlac’s will be a testament to the enduring spirit of our community here in Stathern as we breathe new life into the old stones, ensuring that the tower of the ancient village church will stand tall for generations to come, a symbol of resilience and unity amidst the passage of time.

The restoration work on the tower was carried out during 2024. We thank all who have contributed donations and grants to enable this project to be completed. In particular we wish to thank the following who have provided grants:
